C70600 Copper Nickel Pipe (90/10 )

C70600 Copper Nickel Pipe is a popular copper-nickel alloy tube, known for its excellent performance in seawater and various corrosive environments. It is often called 90/10 copper-nickel alloy because its nominal composition contains about 90% copper and 10% nickel. It is widely used in many fields, including oil and gas pipelines, water treatment equipment, chemical industry, and nuclear power industry. Its excellent physical properties and corrosion resistance make it the first choice for high-performance materials.

ZIZI has a rich inventory of copper nickel C70600, including bars, plates, tubes, fittings and flanges. C70600 copper nickel pipe is known for its moderate strength, weldability and formability. Due to the addition of appropriate amounts of iron and manganese, the 90/10 alloy has excellent resistance to general corrosion and stress cracking, as well as excellent performance under erosion and impact in high-speed turbulent water containing bubbles and silt. C70600 Copper Nickel Pipe

90/10 Copper Nickel Pipe Main Features

Excellent seawater corrosion resistance:

This is the most prominent advantage of C70600. It can form a stable protective film in seawater, effectively resist pitting, crevice corrosion and galvanic corrosion, and maintain good corrosion resistance even in salty, oxygen-containing or velocity-changing seawater.

High erosion corrosion resistance:

Copper nickel alloy can withstand higher flow rates than other copper alloys, and the protective film it forms can also maintain toughness in high-speed water flow, effectively resisting erosion corrosion (or erosion-corrosion).

Good biofouling resistance:

Copper ions have a certain bactericidal effect, making it difficult for marine organisms to attach to the surface of C70600, reducing biofouling and maintaining heat exchange efficiency.

Medium strength:

It has good medium strength, enough to meet the needs of most pipeline and heat exchange applications.

Excellent weldability

The alloy has good welding performance and is suitable for various welding methods, including gas welding, arc welding, laser welding, etc., ensuring that welding operations can be easily carried out during manufacturing and maintenance.

Excellent thermal stability

C70600 copper nickel pipe maintains its physical and mechanical properties in high temperature environments and is suitable for working under high temperature conditions, such as in steam and heat exchange equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is C70600 material?

C70600 is a 90/10 copper-nickel alloy (approximately 90% Cu, 10% Ni, with a small amount of Fe and Mn). It is known for its excellent seawater corrosion resistance, excellent anti-biofouling performance, good mechanical strength and welding processability. It is widely used in marine heat exchangers, ship cooling pipelines, seawater desalination and seawater circulation systems of oil and gas platforms.

2. What is the difference between nickel, copper, and copper-nickel?

Nickel is a silvery-white, hard, ferromagnetic metal known for its high strength, toughness and resistance to high‐temperature oxidation, while copper is a soft, reddish metal prized for its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity; copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) alloys combine the two—typically 10–30% Ni in Cu—offering a balance of good conductivity with greatly enhanced strength, toughness and especially corrosion resistance (notably in seawater), making them ideal for marine and heat‐exchanger applications.

3. What are the disadvantages of copper nickel?

Copper-nickel is much more expensive than ordinary copper or steel, has lower thermal and electrical conductivity than pure copper, is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking in ammonia-rich or sulfide environments, has limited strength and hardness compared to steel (requiring thicker sections), and may corrode galvanically when combined with more noble metals, all of which can limit their use in high-stress, high-temperature, or chemically aggressive environments.
