316L stainless steel forged fittings have become core components in numerous industrial applications due to their exceptional performance and reliability. These fittings are made from 316L stainless steel, a material that combines excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and weldability. The forging process further enhances their structural integrity, making them suitable for harsh environments with stringent requirements for safety and performance. Stainless steel forged fittings come in a wide variety of types and are primarily used for connecting and transporting fluid or gas media. They find extensive application across multiple industries, including petroleum, chemicals, power, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.

Types of Forged Fittings
Forged fittings are primarily divided into two categories: socket weld fittings and threaded fittings.
Socket weld fittings: Socket weld fittings are widely used in piping systems. They feature an end with a socket-like opening, into which the pipe is inserted and then welded. 316L stainless steel socket weld fittings provide a secure and sealed connection. These fittings are typically used in applications where pipe sizes are relatively small and high-integrity connections are required, such as in chemical and petrochemical plants.
Threaded fittings: Threaded fittings have internal or external threads machined at their ends. They adhere to different thread standards, such as NPT and BSP. Threaded fittings are commonly used in medium-to-low-pressure applications and in systems that may require frequent modifications or maintenance.
Socket Weld Fittings Dimension
Socket weld fittings primarily include socket weld caps, socket weld elbows, socket weld tee, socket weld cross, and socket weld coupling. These fittings are connected to pipes via socket weld joints and are widely used in high-pressure, small-diameter fluid conveyance systems. They feature a compact structure, easy installation, and excellent sealing performance.

Forging Process for Forged Pipe Fittings
① Die Forging
Suitable for small pipe fittings such as tees, crosses, and elbows. These fittings use socket welds and threads, and their complex shapes require die forging.
The raw material for forging should be rolled profiles, such as bars, thick-walled tubes, or plates. When using ingots as raw material, the ingots should be pre-rolled into bars or forged into ingots for use as die forging raw material to eliminate defects such as segregation and porosity in the ingots.
After heating, the billet is placed into the die for forging, where pressure causes the metal to flow and fill the die cavity. If the forged billet has flash, it must undergo a stamping process to remove the remaining flash, thereby completing all die forging operations.
② Free Forging
Special-shaped or unsuitable pipe fittings can be manufactured using free forging processes. Free forging should produce the approximate shape of the pipe fitting; for example, tees and branches should be forged.
③ Cutting.
Some tubular fittings can be directly cut from bars or thick-walled tubes to form the desired shape, such as double-sleeve couplings and union fittings. When processing metallic materials, the fiber flow direction should be roughly parallel to the axial direction of the fitting. Tees, crosses, elbows, and fittings shall not be directly cut from reinforcing bars to form the desired shape.
