Meaning & Specification
ASTM A53 is a standard, covers seamless & welded black and hot dipped galvanized steel pipe in 1/8” to 26”. It allows pipes having other dimensions as long as such pipes complies with all requirements of the standard. Those materils are commonly used as structural steel or for low pressure plumbing.Three types and two grades are involved.
A53 Type F: Only Grade A available in welded pipe type.
Type E: Grade A and Grade B for electric resistance welded pipe.
Grade S: Seamless pipe made by hot working Grade A and Grade B.
A53 Grade B is more popular grade among them.
