45 Degree and Degree NPT Threaded Pipe Elbows

NPT 90 Degree Elbow is a Pipe Fitting for changing the direction of medium. It is used to connect pipes and fittings with different pressure. Size is below 4 Inch. The customers mostly buy 1⁄8, 1⁄4, 3⁄8, 1⁄2, 3⁄4, 1, 1 1⁄4, 1 1⁄2, and 2 inch. Elbow prevails in piping system and only Pipe Bend has the same function as it. Furthermore, Pipe Bends are very similar to Pipe Elbow, except their radius.

There are many ways to classify threaded elbows, such as:

Pressure rating. Class 2000 Elbow, Class 3000 Elbow or Class 6000 Elbow.

NPT 45 Degree Elbow, NPT 90 Degree Elbow.

Forged threaded elbow can be carbon steel elbow, stainless steel elbow or alloy steel elbow. ASTM A105 carbon steel threaded fittings are very common.

LR (1.5D) or SR (1D).

Thread type. The most common thread type are NPT and BSP. The thread has internal type and external type. Among common pipe fittings, Threaded Nipples are external thread, while threaded elbow, threaded tee, threaded cap and threaded coupling are internal more often.

Thread connection is the ideal way for the situations that cannot be welded or dismantle is needed, such as flammable gas pipeline.

ASME B16.11 also requires the NPT 3000# 90 Degree Elbow should be American National standard thread, which is ASME B1.20.1 Thread.

Thread types of ASME B1.20.1 are designed by specifying in sequence the nominal pipe size, number of threads per inch and the thread series symbol as follows:

3/8-18 NPT

1/8-27 NPSC

1/2-14 NPTR

1/8-27 NPSM

1/8-27 NPSL

1-11.5 NPSH

And each of these letters in the symbols has a definite significance as follows:

N: National ( American ) Standard

P: Pipe

T: Taper

C: Coupling

S: Straight

M: Mechanical

L: Locknut

H: Hose Coupling

R: Railing Fittings

So NPT refers to National Standard Pipe Taper. We often say the angle of NPT 90 Degree Elbow Fittings is 60 degree, it refers to the angle between the sides of the thread when measured in the axial plane. The line bisecting this angle is perpendicular to the axis.

NPT is the taper pipe thread for general purpose, it is intended to be made up wrench-tight and with a sealant whenever a pressure-tight joint is required. The out- of-roundness will influence sealing. It may occur between the wrench-tight mated parts in final assembly. This will vary depending on the method for producing the thread in conjunction with the elasticity and/or ductility of the mating parts and the resultant conformance at final assembly.

The post NPT 90 Degree Elbow 3000lb appeared first on Supplier of Quality Forged Fittings-Flanges.
