										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On July 17, 2025, our domestic customer sent us another inquiry for <a href="https://www.zzsteels.com/2025/01/21/astm-a335-alloy-steel-pipe/">ASTM A335 Alloy Steel Pipe</a> in grades <a href="https://www.zzfittings.com/p11-astm-a335-alloy-steel-pipes/">P11</a> and P91. This time, the customer specifically requested that the pipes be marked with designated prefixes to facilitate quick identification of the material and specifications during installation and inspection. We will strictly adhere to standards and customer requirements during production and shipment, ensuring that each pipe bears clear and accurate prefix markings for easy traceability and use. Furthermore, we will provide a Material Certificate (MTC) and quality inspection report based on the specific needs of the customer&#8217;s project, ensuring our products fully comply with international standards and the customer&#8217;s engineering application requirements.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Inspection of Alloy Steel Pipes</h2>



<p>Outer Diameter and Wall Thickness: Measurements are taken using a Vernier caliper or micrometer, typically at multiple points across different cross-sections of the tube to ensure accuracy. Some modern production lines utilize automated inspection equipment for continuous measurement.</p>



<p>Length: Measurements are taken using a steel tape measure to ensure the tube length meets order specifications.</p>



<p>End Faces: Inspect the beveled edges and cuts at both ends of the tube to ensure they are flat, smooth, and free of burrs.</p>



<p>Spectral Analysis: Spectral analysis is a non-destructive testing method used to determine the chemical composition of alloy steel tubes. By analyzing the content of specific elements in the steel, it can be confirmed whether it meets the grade standards.</p>



<p>Wooden box packaging: Wooden box packaging is primarily used to protect alloy steel tubes during long-distance transportation, especially during sea transport. For tubes with special surface treatments or precision components, the interior of the wooden box is filled with cushioning materials such as foam or bubble wrap to prevent the tubes from colliding with each other.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is ASTM A335 Material?</h2>



<p>ASTM A335 is a standard for seamless alloy steel pipes established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), primarily used in pipeline systems operating under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. This standard covers various grades of chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, such as P1, P5, P9, P11, P22, P91, etc., which exhibit excellent high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and corrosion resistance. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://www.zcpipefittings.com/alloy-steel-pipe.html">Alloy</a> 20 pipe is designed for resistance to sulfuric acid. Its nickel, chromium, molybdenum and copper contents all give it excellent resistance to general corrosion. The limited carbon content and niobium stabilization treatment allow its welded construction to be used in corrosive environments, usually without the need for post-weld heat treatment. Alloy 20 has practical immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking. It is designed to provide maximum corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe chemical environments, and excels in handling sulfuric acid.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">UNS N08020 Pipe Performance Characteristics</h2>



<p><strong>Corrosion resistance: </strong>UNS N08020 Pipe has excellent corrosion resistance to various strong acids such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, as well as chlorides, salt solutions, etc. In an environment containing chloride ions, it can effectively resist pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.</p>



<p><strong>Mechanical properties:</strong>&nbsp;It has good strength and toughness, tensile strength ≥550MPa, yield strength ≥240MPa, elongation ≥30%, hardness HB135-220, can withstand certain pressure and external force, and maintain structural stability under complex working conditions.</p>



<p><strong>Processing performance:</strong>Alloy 20 pipe&nbsp;has&nbsp;good formability and is suitable for processing processes such as bending and expansion. The added niobium element can provide minimal carbide precipitation during welding, so that its welding performance is also good. It can be processed into pipes of various shapes and sizes to meet the needs of different projects.</p>



<p><strong>High temperature resistance:</strong>&nbsp;It can still maintain good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in high temperature environments. It can be used for pipelines that transport hot water or steam, and can withstand the effects of high temperature media to a certain extent.</p>

<p>ASTM A335 P91 alloy steel pipe is a highly specialized type of pipe widely used in high-temperature applications.</p>



<p>ASTM A335 / ASME SA335 Pipe named chrome moly pipe as they have a high level of Chromium and Molybdenum.</p>



<p>Chromium will increase oxidation resistance and provides high-temperature strength, along with the better tensile &amp; yield strength and proper hardness at room temperature. When the chromium content increased more than 12%, it can be classified as stainless steel.</p>



<p>Molybdenum increases the overall strength, resistance, elasticity, hardenability and overall quality, moly ensures that the material is more resistant to softening, restrains the growth of grains and lessens the chances of embrittlement. It is the single additive that is responsible for the increase in high temperature resistance (to 540-750°C) and it also improves the corrosion resistance to steel.</p>

<p><strong>Standard Scope</strong><strong></strong></p>



<p>This specification covers nominal wall and minimum wall seamless ferritic <a href="https://www.zcpipefittings.com/alloy-steel-pipe.html">alloy-steel pipe</a> intended for high-temperature service. Pipe ordered to this specification shall be suitable for bending, flanging (vanstoning), and similar forming operations, and for fusion welding. Selection will depend upon design, service conditions, mechanical properties, and high-temperature characteristics.</p>



<p><strong>Materials and Manufacture </strong><strong></strong></p>



<p>&nbsp;Pipe may be either hot finished or cold drawn with the finishing treatment as required.</p>



<p>Heat Treatment:</p>



<p>All pipe shall be reheated for heat treatment and heat treated in accordance with the requirements of Table 2.</p>



<p>NOTE 3—It is recommended that the temperature for tempering should be at least 100 °F [50 °C] above the intended service temperature; consequently, the purchaser should advise the manufacturer if the service temperature is to be over 1100 °F [600 °C].</p>



<p>NOTE 4—Certain of the ferritic steels covered by this specification will harden if cooled rapidly from above their critical temperature. Some will air harden, that is, become hardened to an undesirable degree when cooled in air from high temperatures. Therefore, operations involving heating such steels above their critical temperatures, such as welding, flanging, and hot bending, should be followed by suitable heat treatment.</p>

This standard covers the specifications for seamless ferritic alloy steel pipes suitable for high temperature service. The ASTM A335 standard specifies a variety of ferritic steel grades, which generally do not exceed 10% chromium content and belong to the range of medium and low alloy steels. <p>A335 is often called chrome moly pipe because of the chemical makeup of Molybdenum (Mo) and Chromium (Cr). Molybdenum increases the strength of steel as well as the elastic limit, resistance to wear, impact qualities, and hardenability. Moly increases the resistance to softening, restrains grain growth and makes chromium steel less susceptible to embrittlement. Moly is the most effective single additive that increases high temperature creep strength. It also enhances the corrosion resistance of steel, and inhibits pitting. Chromium (or chrome) is the essential constituent of stainless steel. Any steel with 12% or more Chrome is considered stainless.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">ASTM A335 Standard Scope</h3>



<p>This specification2 covers nominal wall and minimum wall seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe intended for hightemperature service. Pipe ordered to this specification shall be suitable for bending, flanging (vanstoning), and similar forming operations, and for fusion welding.
