What is RF Flange

RF (Raised Face) is the Flange Sealing Type. Because gasket surface are raised about the bolting circle face, named it as raised face. socket weld flange with Raised Face concentrates more pressure on a smaller gasket so the joint can bear more pressure. It is a most common sealing type, and often used in combination with SW.

ANSI B16.5 Flange Pressure

American standard flange usually used in the condition of pressure grade is PN2 PN5 and sometimes is PN10. And ANSI B16.5 is one of the American standard we often use in flange.

The pressure grade of ANSI B16.5 can be class 150,300,600,900,1500 and 2500, the pressure grade determines the height of the RF. The standard height is 1/16″ for socket weld flanges under 400#. Otherwise, the standard socket weld flange raised face height is 1/4″.
