A long-standing Singaporean client, whom we have been working with since 2022, has sent an inquiry for European standard steel tubes, including EN10216-2 seamless tubes of 13CrMo4-5, P235GH, and P265GH, intended for the Singapore IWMF project. This client has maintained a strong relationship with us over the years and regularly purchases large quantities of steel tubes and pipe fittings from our company.

One month later, the client informed us of the good news that they had successfully won the bid.

As with previous orders, before production, we provided drawings for the client’s review. Prior to delivery, we submitted an EN10204 3.1 MTC, product photos, packaging photos, and spectrogram photos for the client’s approval before arranging shipment.

If you want to know more about EN10216-2 steel tube, please click here

If you have any questions about our products or need new services, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to provide you with professional service.

EN 10216 Standard Overview

EN 10216 is the general standard for seamless tubes for pressure purposes within the European Union. It comprises five parts covering the technical and manufacturing conditions for seamless steel tubes for various applications. Specifically, EN 10216-2 applies to non-alloy and alloy seamless steel tubes with specified high-temperature properties. It details comprehensive requirements for these tubes when used in high-temperature environments, including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and manufacturing processes. Each part provides a detailed list of specific steel grades within its category, including upper and lower limits for chemical composition, mechanical property specifications (at room temperature and elevated temperatures), heat treatment conditions, and specific inspection requirements.

Dimension Inspection of European Standard Carbon Steel Tubes

Outer Diameter

Use calipers, outside micrometers, or dedicated ring gauges to ensure outer diameter tolerances comply with relevant standards.

Wall Thickness

Employ micrometers or ultrasonic thickness gauges to perform multi-point measurements along both the circumferential and longitudinal directions, verifying wall thickness uniformity and deviations.

Length Inspection

Use steel tape measures or measuring tools to verify that fixed-length or multiple-length specifications meet standards and customer requirements.

Packaging of EN10216-2 Seamless Tubes

Bundled Packaging

Steel tubes are typically bundled by identical specifications, secured with steel strapping or wire to prevent dispersion during transit. Additionally, we cover the tubes with waterproof tarps to shield them from rain or seawater exposure en route.

End Protection

Plastic caps are often fitted to pipe ends to shield them from impacts during transit that could affect customer usage. This also prevents dust, moisture, or mechanical damage from entering the tubes, maintaining cleanliness and integrity.

Surface Protection

The outer surface is coated with rust-preventive oil, black paint, or treated with a galvanized layer to enhance corrosion resistance and prevent rusting during transport.

Labeling and Identification

Each bundle of steel tubes is accompanied by a tag indicating the manufacturer, steel grade, specifications, standards, furnace number, or batch number.

Special Packaging

For export, packaging can be customized per customer requirements using wooden crates, wooden pallets, or waterproof tarps to enhance moisture resistance and impact protection, suitable for maritime or long-distance transport.

Chemical Composition Inspection

Spectral analysis of steel tubes per EN 10216-2 is a critical step for analyzing and verifying chemical composition, ensuring the pipe material meets standard requirements and customer-specified steel grades. This inspection typically employs an optical emission spectrometer (OES) or a portable spectrometer for testing.

Following production completion, we conduct spectral analysis on all products to verify that the chemical composition of the steel tubes (including C, Mn, Si, P, S, Cr, Mo, Ni, etc.) meets the requirements of EN 10216-2 and the corresponding steel grades (e.g., P235GH, 16Mo3, 13CrMo4-5, etc.). This ensures the tubes maintain reliable strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance under high-temperature and high-pressure operating conditions.
