Monel 400 pipe fittings are nickel copper alloy fittings which have excellent corrosion resistance. They have beautiful silver surface due to the large nickel content which can up to 68%. So copper nickel alloy has another name in Chinese, literally is “ white copper”.

Monel was created in 1901 and named after INCO president Ambrose Monell. A little “l” was dropped because family names were not allowed as trademarks at that time.

Alloy 400 is one of the popular nickel alloy grade in pipe fittings. People also call it as UNS N04400, ASTM B564 alloy 400 or Ni68Cu28Fe. In addition to this, Monel also covers grades 404, 405 and K500.

Application of Monel 400 Pipe Fittings

UNS N04400 is high strength and high performance alloy, it is known for the excellent resistant to corrosion, so what can they do?

• It is resistant to Acid and Alkaline medium, so it can be applied in chemical pipelines with ease.
• Alloy 400 pipe fittings prevalent in seawater desalination and other marine development fields because they can withstand corrosion of water, seawater, atmosphere.
• With Good resistant to high temperature, they are available from low temperature to high temperature.
• Great anti-stress ability.

What’s more, Alloy 400 pipe fittings also have good weldability and forming ability. They can welded with carbon steel and low alloy steel pipes and fittings. It is better to take heat treatment after welding for the purpose of maintain their good performance.
