Socket Weld Flange ASME B16.5

According to ASME B16.5, Socket Weld Flange CL300 is available from NPS 1/2” to 3” only so that it is commonly used on small sizes pipelines.

Pipes will be inserted into to socket end at the center hole of flanges and then applied fillet weld around the top, therefore socket weld flanges are suitable for high pressure pipe systems. It offers better flow and smooth bore as well. Socket weld flanges are usually provided with raised face, flat face or ring type joint face, and the height of raised face are not fix in ASME B16.5.
