Ordering Branch Connection Fittings

1. Diameter: run pipe size x branch pipe size, such as 8” x 1”
2. Wall Thickness: Class 3000 or Class 6000 sockolet, or expressed as XS, Sch 160.
3. Material: materials for forged steel pipe fittings is ok.
4. Standard: generally speaking it is MSS SP 97.
5. Other requirements. For example, coating is often required for carbon steel sockolet.

Weight of Sockolet

Sockolet VS Weldolet

Sockolet is designed based on the structure of weldolet, but their dimension ranges are different. According to MSS SP 97, the branch sizes of weldolet is from 1/8” to 24”, and pressure rating is STD, XS and Sch 160. However, sockolet is only available in 1/8” to 4”, XS and Sch 160. What’s more, weldolet need to bevelled the end for welding and sockolet need insert the pipe into a sock for welding.
